Terms of Use

The terms on which these pages are published, and the house rules that apply once you are inside the building.

Adults only

This website is intended for adults of 18 or over, because it describes a hotel with a casino inside it. An age check sits on the entry page and the answer is yours to give honestly. If you are under 18, please leave the site. Admission to the Lantern Floor itself begins at 18, or at a higher age where local rules set one, and photo identification is checked at the door on every visit.

No gambling is offered here

Nothing on this website is a game, a wager or a financial transaction. There is no software to run, no stake to place, no account to hold a balance and no mechanism to send or receive money. The casino described on these pages is a physical room on physical premises and can be used only by walking into it. Any site that appears to offer online play in our name is not ours, and we would be glad to be told about it.

Accuracy, and what is not an offer

We keep the pages current, but opening hours shift, rooms are taken out for maintenance, kitchens change their cards and an evening in the week sometimes moves. Nothing written here is a binding offer, a guarantee of availability or a contractual term. A stay, a table or a private hire is agreed in writing with reception, and that correspondence is what binds either side.

Intellectual property

The text, the layout, the stylesheet, the drawings built into these pages and the Montrose Grand name and mark belong to the house or are used with permission. You may read the pages, print them and link to them. You may not republish, copy or adapt substantial parts of them for your own commercial use without asking us first.

Links out

A handful of links lead to independent help organisations. We choose them because they are useful and we are not paid to list them. We do not run those sites, cannot vouch for their contents and are not responsible for what you find once you have left this one. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the far side of it.

Conduct at the property

Inside the building, the house rules apply. In short: identification at the casino door every visit, no photography past the brass doors, smart dress in the Supper Club and on the casino floor after eight, no credit of any kind, and no cash machine on the floor. Staff may refuse service, refuse entry or ask somebody to leave where behaviour, intoxication or an age question makes that the right call, and a refusal is not a matter for debate on the night.

Guests under 18 are welcome in the hotel but never on the casino floor, including when walking through with an adult.

Availability of the site

We would like the site to be up all the time and it usually is, but we do not promise it. Pages may be unavailable during maintenance, a hosting fault or anything outside our hands. We may change, move or withdraw any part of the site without notice.

Liability

These pages are provided as they are, for information. To the extent the law allows, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on them, for interruptions to the site or for damage caused by anything you download from a site we have linked to. Some liabilities cannot lawfully be limited at all, among them death or personal injury through our negligence and liability for fraud; nothing written above touches those.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute about them or about the site, are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the hotel is licensed and operates, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction. Consumer rights that apply to you where you live are not affected by this.

Changes to these terms

We may revise this page. The date at the top shows when it was last reviewed, and using the site after a revision means the revised version applies to you.
