Who publishes this site
This website is published by the operating company of the Montrose Grand Casino Hotel, Upper Terrace, above the river bend. Anything on this page that mentions “we” or “the house” means that company. Questions about data are answered at [email protected], marked for the data contact.
What this site is not
There is no booking engine here, no guest account to create, no card form and no payment of any kind. The site has no login, no basket and no checkout. It is a set of pages describing a building, its rooms, its kitchens and its casino floor. Reservations and limits are arranged by email or at the desk, in writing or in person.
The casino itself is land-based and inside the hotel. We run no online games, accept no wagers through this site and hold no player balances anywhere.
What is collected if you only read
Nothing that identifies you. No account is created, no form is presented and no tracker fires before you have answered the cookie banner.
Values stored in your browser
- mg_age_ok — set when you answer the age check, so the question is not repeated on every page you open.
- mg_consent — set when you answer the cookie banner, so your choice is remembered instead of being asked for again.
Both live in your browser's local storage, on your own device. They are never sent to our server with a request and neither of them contains a name, an address or anything that points at a person. Clearing site data in your browser removes both.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records the ordinary technical lines that any web server records: the IP address a request came from, the time, the page asked for, the response code and the browser's user-agent string. These are kept to keep the site up and to look into abuse or an outage, and they are deleted on a rolling basis within thirty days unless something specific needs investigating.
If you write to us
An email sent to the address above reaches our mailbox with whatever you put in it: your name, your email address, your dates, your questions, anything you choose to tell us about access needs or about a limit you want set on the casino floor. We use it to answer you and to arrange what you have asked for, nothing else. Correspondence is kept for up to twenty-four months and then deleted. Requests about self-exclusion stay with the casino office and are not copied into any marketing or reservation list.
Analytics and advertising, only after consent
With your consent we load Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read, and Google Ads measurement to see whether an advertisement we paid for brought somebody here. Both run in Google Consent Mode: until you choose Accept all, every category is set to denied and the tags store nothing on your device. Choose Essential only and they stay in that state for good.
We do not use these tools to build a profile of you, to target a named individual, or to decide anything automatically about any person.
Lawful bases
- Consent — for analytics and advertising measurement. You give it on the banner and can withdraw it at any moment through .
- Legitimate interests — for server logs and basic security, so that the site stays available and abuse can be traced.
- Performance of a contract, or steps before one — for the email exchange when you ask about a stay, a table or a private hire.
- Legal obligation — where gambling, licensing or accounting rules require us to keep a record, which happens at the property rather than on this website.
How long things are kept
- Browser values: until you clear your site data.
- Server logs: up to thirty days on a rolling basis.
- Email correspondence: up to twenty-four months.
- Analytics data in Google's systems: according to the retention period set in that account, currently fourteen months.
Who else sees it
Our hosting provider, which stores the logs; our email provider, which carries the messages; and Google, where you have consented to analytics and advertising measurement. Each acts under a contract. Nothing is sold, rented, bartered or passed to a data broker. We may disclose information where a court or a regulator requires it of us, and not otherwise.
Your rights
Where data protection law applies to you, you may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or stop a particular use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and ask for a portable copy. Withdrawing consent is a right you can exercise on any page, at any time, in two clicks. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within one month. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
This site is written for adults, carries an age check on its entry page and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data about a child. If you believe a child has sent us something, write and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes we replace the date at the top of the page. A change that affects how your data is used will also be flagged in the cookie banner, which will ask for your choice again.
